"What's It Like To Start?"
“If you’ve never
experienced the benefits of personal training,
here’s what you can expect . . ."
The first phase is adaptation
Instead of jumping
right into a strenuous physical workout, your body
needs some time to adapt to a new level of work.
So, in order to ensure that you don't overstep the
mark leading to injury, I will develop a
personalized training strategy to lead you to your
goals. Here’s a brief outline of what to expect in
your first three week training cycle and beyond:
Week 1 Workouts
You will
learn safe techniques for joint movement, breathing,
tempo, and equipment use. You will not lift at your
limits. I will help you to focus on the quality of
your technique, so that you walk out of the gym
after each workout feeling very fresh, maybe even a
little under worked.
Week 2 Workouts
We will now begin
to establish your starting point for the amount of
weight you can safely handle for a specific number
of repetitions—factored by the intensity you use to
lift it. We can work closer to your known limits.
At the end of the workout you'll still have some
reserve, but you'll know you just finished a good
workout.
Week 3 Workouts
By this time
you’re "into the workout" and feeling more “fit”
than you have in a long time. We’ll “kick it up” a
little because you’re ready! At the end of the
workout, you’ll feel the “pump” and muscle tone that
follows an exhilarating workout. By now, you’re on
the path to real fitness—you love how your body
feels, and you really look forward to your next
sessions!
Beyond . . .
Your level
of functionality and body alignment along with your
level of physical fitness will determine how and
when we can push the limits. By carefully watching
how you progress in both aspects, I will adjust your
program to continue advancing you while avoiding
injury or over-exertion. You will experience
fitness at the highest levels available as a result
of these regular personal adjustments to your
evolving fitness level. This personal touch will
keep you motivated to achieve greater overall
health, as you discover that you have developed your
own natural momentum for life.

. . .
but Smart Training” works!"
